Platinum Employee Spotlight: Christine Henry

Our ‘Platinum Employee Spotlight’ features people that attend over 100 group fitness classes with Zest.

Below is the interview with Christine Henry, a Localization Manager working for a 7,000+ person technology company called CDK Global. They have a small office in Portland, Oregon owned by Bixby Land Company. Bixby hired Zest in late 2019 to run a diverse calendar of weekly wellness classes with different instructors and class styles. The building didn’t have a gym, so it was particularly important to them that the building had a wellness amenity available to tenants.

That is how Christine came to take her first Zest class in early 2020. Read her story below:

What motivated you to take your first wellness class at The Crossing?

I went with co-workers because it was fun and gave us a place to step away from our desk. After the 1st week, we loved it and we made sure to sign up in advance.

How do you keep up the motivation and commitment to keep coming to class?

Now, it is more challenging to stay motivated because we are at home alone and the classes are online but I block 45 minutes on my calendar to make sure I have this time for me. It is a nice break and great to have a healthy option at lunch time.

What are 3 words that describe how you feel after taking class?

Energized, healthy and happy.

What do you think people should know before they join a class?

It is fun and nice to take time for ourselves. It is a great opportunity to take a break from meetings and from sitting in front of a computer. All the instructors are awesome and very knowledgeable. You can follow, go at your own pace and they offer alternate exercises from easier to more challenging.

Who is your favorite instructor and why?

I like them all but my favorite class is on Tuesday, Core Training. I love it because she always challenges us.

Have you gotten any physical or mental benefits from attending these classes?

Absolutely!  After the classes, I generally feel more relaxed and can concentrate better for the rest of the day. I also feel I have more energy, even if I am sore.
